Dear Potential New Members,
My name is Laura Whittington, and I am so honored to introduce myself to you all as Alpha Delta Pi’s Formal Recruitment Chair at East Carolina University for the second year in a row!
I not only speak for myself, but also the entire Delta Omicron Chapter when I say, we cannot wait to welcome you into our home in August. Formal Recruitment is one of the most treasured events of the year for our chapter, and we work hard year-round in order to make it a great experience for you.
My love for this chapter and recruitment runs deep and as a result, I took on the role of Recruitment Chair for a second year, preparing my chapter to help potential new members, like you, find their home away from home. As I led my chapter during recruitment last year, my admiration for these women only grew stronger.
I remember being right in your shoes three short years ago, nervous, and unsure of what to expect, but when I walked through the doors of ADPi, I knew I had found my home. Now, as I enter my senior year of college, this chapter has become my place, and these are my people. I always thought that Bid Day or Big Little Reveal would be the things to look forward to the most, but the everyday memories have surpassed it all… from studying in the library until 2:00 am with my sisters, to getting into nursing school with my best friends, to traveling to Punta Cana with my entire alpha class. Through this sorority, I have not only gained the sisters I never had, but gained 200+ lifelong motivators and supporters. These women inspire me to be the best version of myself and support my ambitions, as well as my everyday life decisions.
You’re probably thinking is this for me? What am I looking for? While I could list all of the reasons that I love Alpha Delta Pi, those are just words to you. I hope that you are able to find your home that accepts you, encourages you, and loves you unconditionally. I want you to find the place that molds to YOU and makes YOU feel your best. ADPi. At once those were just letters to me, but now they are the answers to all of the questions that I too asked myself before. I hope that during recruitment, you will be able to see a glimpse of our surreal sisterhood and what ADPi means to all of us.
Formal Recruitment is a six-day-long process beginning this August. There will be three separate rounds, followed by a Preference Ceremony, and ending in Bid Day where we get to celebrate those new sisters running home to us. For any other questions on the specifics of 2018 Fall Recruitment, please visit ECU Panhellenic’s website.
I cannot express how much I am anticipating August and to meet each of you as you walk through our doors. Welcome to Pirate Nation! We wish you the best of luck during Recruitment this year!
Pi Love and Mine,
Formal Recruitment Chair, Delta Omicron Chapter
